One of our readers has returned from a trip to Chimelong Paradise where they discovered two new attractions added to the park reciently. First up was the Alien Attack attraction, which they describe as a merger of a dark ride and King Kong 360º 3-D from Universal Studios Hollywood. “After the pre-show you board a 3 car "tram" that is surrounded by a 360 degree screen, the story is you board this "tram" and it takes you to future earth but something goes wrong and we are transported to space where we are greeted by baby aliens that want to play but then their parents show up and start attacking the tram and as we are transported back to present time the aliens are transported back also then there is a battle between the aliens and giant robots. It's actually a really good ride and a lot of fun.” Actually, the technology used here sounds very similar to The Lost Temple attraction that opened this year at Movie Park Germany.
The second new attraction is called Forest Temple, which is a walk-through attraction without actors. “The story as I followed it you are lured by trolls deep into the woods where you encounter a talking tree, giant ants, an evil sorcerer, a dragon and a demon. The set pieces were quite impressive for an attraction in China and there was a really neat maze that the walls were falling water but there were also video screens thrown in and the animation was very poor. Pictures were not allowed inside but everyone else was taking pictures (and that was my biggest problem with their haunted houses but that is a story for another time) so I snapped a couple myself.”
