Viacom’s Viacom International Media Networks unit has revealed plans to develop a Nickelodeon undersea attraction and resort in the Philippines. It will be the brand”s first themed resort in Southeast Asia.

The Nickelodeon undersea attraction will be part of a bigger project, Coral World Park Undersea. Styled as the world’s first undersea attraction, this 400-hectare park will be in the Philippine province of Coron, Palawan. It will open in a number of phases starting in 2018.

The Nickelodeon Undersea Attraction
The Nickelodeon area will open in 2020. It will comprise 70 hectares for accommodation and 30 hectares for the themed attraction. It will highlight a number of the brand’s most popular characters, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants. There will be an educational element to the attraction and it will advocate ocean protection.

Gerald Raines is senior vp global recreation for Viacom International Media Networks. He said, “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Coral World Park to open the world’s first undersea attraction and Nickelodeon’s first resort in Southeast Asia as we continue to expand on our theme-based attractions in Asia and across the world.
“This is yet another important step in boosting the Nickelodeon entertainment experience as we continue to give our fans, kids and their families, new ways to interact with the brand and the iconic characters they love.”
