...new digital concept-arts for the updated Test Track at Epcot which will have Chevrolet as sponsor of the ride. And if the new futuristic theming that you can see on the artwork below reminds you TRON, it's may be because the updated ride will place guests inside the computer world of digital design.
Also new, an interactive queue with touch screens and displays which, according to insidethemagic who was at the presentation "will allow guests to design their own vehicles based on 4 properties: capability, efficiency, responsiveness, and power. These selections will be saved onto a card that guests will be handed, carrying with them onto the ride itself. Ultimately guests will be scored on how well their design holds up to the test track inside".
The ride itself will be the same "but all of the show scenes are being completely overhauled to represent the digital computer space in which guests will ride through. The ride will still feature a “warehouse” feel rather than individually-confined show scenes."
Pardon our dust. This attraction is temporarily closed for refurbishment and scheduled to reopen in fall 2012.
We're gearing up for an exciting re-imagined Test Track. When complete, you can design your own custom concept vehicle, then buckle up and put your design through its paces on the exhilarating hills and switchbacks of the Test Track circuit.
Mean Streak Isn't So Mean!
We all know Mean Streak does not share the reputation of Raptor or Millennium Force for being the smoothest ride in the park. Mean Streak is built to give you that classic "out-of-control" feeling made famous by wooden coasters.
Every year, our maintenance team works hard to keep up with re-tracking Mean Streak and keeping the ride as smooth as possible. This year, they've gone above and beyond. Some of our rides managers who have been at the park since Mean Streak opened in 1991, are saying it's as smooth - and as fun as it ever has been before.
I rode Mean Streak myself last week - and I have to agree. The ride is running great! As proof, check out our brand-new POV of the wooden giant.
